Kirwan's On The Wharf

Whether you’re coming for a drink or a multi-course meal, we’re happy to welcome you in and treat you to the best of Irish hospitality.

Our building is equipped with three bars, each with its own distinct feel and ambience.

Main Bar & Whiskey Bar

Once you walk through the door, you’ll be greeted at our main bar where a sweeping view of the Washington Channel adds to its sociable and vibrant atmosphere.

In a separate room adjoined to our main bar is the Whiskey Bar. If you’re after a touch of class and luxury in an intimate setting then we’ll direct you here, where the bar is fully stocked with superior whiskeys for your tasting pleasure.

Gastropub: Dining Area & Snug

The mezzanine houses our gastropub, where you can enjoy a classic dining setting or take a seat at the bar. You’ll feel as if  you’ve been transported to a rural pub in Ireland as soon as you step into this area; especially when you see our old-fashioned “snug”, a cozy, enclosed space historically reserved for those who didn’t want to be seen drinking in a pub: women, men of the cloth, policemen and clandestine lovers, to name but a few. How times have changed.

Patios

In fine weather we open our two lovely patios, one just outside the restaurant and one directly on the waterbank. In the colder months, retreat indoors to warm up by one of our fireplaces. If you’re as into European sports as we are, you’ll feel right at home enjoying the overseas games we broadcast throughout our different areas.

Our food and drinks menus are available throughout Kirwan’s so you can indulge in a bite to eat or a drink in any area.

An Authentic Irish Experience

Our intention in opening Kirwan’s was to celebrate our homeland by making your experience as authentically Irish as possible. To do this, we contracted eight carpenters from Ireland who flew over with huge containers bearing all of our interior furnishings and materials. Every bar, tile, table, chair, panel and photograph you see is from Ireland.

About those photographs on our walls - each one was selected and brought over by owner Mark Kirwan’s dad from The Photography Institute in Ireland. The historical subjects of horses and GAA sportsmen are particular interests of Mark’s. He takes pride in his heritage and enthusiastically shares it with everyone who walks through the doors of Kirwan’s.
